「kibiso」プロジェクト。
山形県鶴岡市は、日本有数のシルクの産地。
ここで、今注目を浴びているムーブメントが「kibiso」プロジェクト。
地元のメンバーと、各分野のプロが一体となり、地域が誇るシルクという財産を活かすため、アイディアと技を出し合いながら試行錯誤を重ねています。
「きびそ」とは？ 「きびそ」とは、蚕が最初に吐き出す糸のこと。
繭の一番外側の部分で、太くてボソボソとしていることから織物の糸としては不向きとされていました。
しかし「きびそ」には水溶性のたんぱく質が豊富に含まれ、保湿力に優れている上に紫外線吸収力や抗酸化作用があると言われ、スキンケア商品の成分などに活用されてきていました。
その「きびそ」を使い、エコロジカルでナチュラルな絹製品を作りました。
それが「kibiso」です。

What is kibiso? It’s the very first fiber a silkworm spins out. Kibiso is what we call the very first fiber a silkworm produces.It is the thick and coarse fiber that forms the outermost part of a cocoon.It’s been used in skincare products for its rich water-soluble protein content,which contributes to high moisture retention, UV absorbency and antioxidant effect. However, it was generally considered to be too thick and poorly textured, and was deemed unsuitable for yarn making.Thinking outside of the box, we spun kibiso into our unique silk products.Ecological, natural, airy and richly textured. That is our “kibiso”.From Tsuruoka, to you. きびその表情 U太さが均一ではなく加工しにくいことから、繊維として生糸に使われることがほとんどなかった「きびそ」。
ゴワゴワした太くて硬いその素材感は従来の絹のイメージとは異なる独自の表情を見せます。
また、オーガニックコットンと合わせることで、よりナチュラルな糸など様々な表情を作ることができます。
その独自性と鶴岡の風土・歴史を感じていただいた多くのファッションデザイナーに活用していただいております。
Unique Tones and Textures of Kibiso Uneven in thickness and hard to treat and process, kibiso was conventionally deemed unsuitable for yarn. However, its thickness and coarseness are the very qualities that give our products their one-of-a-kind tones and textures, pleasantly betraying your impressions of traditional silk. We produce uniquely textured blended yarn as well. Blending kibiso with organic cotton, for instance, would afford a softer, earthier feel to fabrics. This uniqueness, along with natural and spiritual landscapes and history of Tsuruoka, has inspired many fashion designers to create their works with our silk.
